Biography

A native of Camilla, Georgia, Dr. Morgan is married to Mary Helen Barfield Morgan of Perry, Georgia. The Morgans have four young children – Mary Brice Morgan, Joe Harris Morgan IV, Laura Elizabeth Morgan and Marjorie Jane Morgan.

Following graduation from the University of Georgia College of Pharmacy in 1997, Dr. Morgan worked briefly as a pharmacist before attending the Mercer University School of Medicine from which he graduated in 2001. He completed his surgical residency at the same university in 2006 and completed a two year Vascular Surgery Fellowship at Geisinger Clinic in 2008.

Throughout his years in medical school and as a practicing physician and pharmacist, Dr. Morgan has amassed an extensive list of honors, publications, grant awards, abstracts, research projects and presentations. In addition, Dr. Morgan has served his community in numerous volunteer and civic organizations, including Special Olympics, Habitat for Humanity, Meals on Wheels and the Medical Center of Georgia free clinic. He is a local Rotarian and has been recognized as one of the 40 Under 40 most influential individuals in southwest Georgia.
